What is phileo love

What is Phileo love that is the question comes to our mind? So, this is an effort of mine to explain what is Phileo love.

Phileo word is a Greek word, that word means love among the brothers or you can say, brotherly love. It is often used or translated as affection or friendship. This is the love which is found between close friends. According to the Bible, we get to see 4 types of love, These are Phileo, Eros, Storge, and Agape and it is used for serval ways of love. These all words are taken from the Greek language which is translated to this, Phileo (Love among the Brothers), Eros (Husbands and Wives love), Storge (Love among the Family) and Agape (God’s love or we can say that unconditional love for the humans).

What is Phileo love in the Bible

In the Bible (1 Samuel 18:1-3) says “When he had a conversation with Saul, Jonathan’s soul was bound by David’s soul, then Jonathan starts loving to David as much as he loves his own life. And from that day Saul kept it with him and did not let him go back to his father’s home. Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved David as much as he loved his own life”.

Here we could see the love between Jonathan and David how Jonathan start loving him like his own soul. However, the word Phileo is not mentioned in the Bible but the Bible explains it perfectly.

Why we must have Phileo love (brotherly love)

We all should love our brothers because the Bible mentions that in the book of (Luke 6:28) “Bless the person those who curse you, Pray for them those who insult you’’. And in (Matthew 5:44) says “But I tell you that love your enemies, and bless the person those who curse you, and do good to the person those who hate you, and pray for the person who persecutes you”.
