Milk and Meat teaching in the bible

milk and meat teaching in bible

Milk and meat don’t mean that we are talking about eating something. In the Bible milk and meat signifies about the new believers and the believers who are already in Christ. Here in the Bible milk is for a believer who newly comes to the Christ and does not know much about God. And Meat represents the believers who are strong in Christ and knows the Bible. (John 16:12) Says “I have so much more to tell you, but it’s too much for you to accept now. Like, the newborn baby only can take milk, and if we give meat or little hard food, the baby won’t be able to digest that. But slowly, when the child will grow, he or she will start eating the hard food. And believers are like this only when they are newborn Believers they need to learn slowly. Otherwise, they may fall and will not have strong faith in God. Because if we want to remain in God our faith only works, otherwise Satan will come, and he will destroy our life. Bible mostly talks about faith; faith is what makes real, the things we hope for. And it is proof of what we cannot see.

What does Paul say to the believers?

In (1 Corinthians 3:1, 2) here Paul talks to the believers. “Brothers and sisters, when I (Paul) was there, I could not talk to you the way I talk to people who are led by the Spirit. I must talk to you like ordinary people of the world. You were the babies in Christ. And the teaching I gave you was the milk, not solid food. I did this because you were not ready for solid food. And even now you are still not ready”. He said this because they were not following the spirit. But were still following their own selfish desires. They were acting like ordinary people of the world.

Need for a Teacher (milk and meat):

In (Hebrew 5:12-14), “you have had enough time that by now you should be teachers. But you need someone to teach you again the first lessons of God’s teaching. But you still need the teaching that is like milk. For you are not ready for solid food. Anyone who lives on the milk is still a baby and is not able to understand much about living right. But solid food is for people who have grown up. From their experience, they have been learning to see the difference between good and evil.

(1 Peter 2:2) Says “Like newborn babies, hungry for the milk, you should want the pure teaching that feeds your spirit. With which you can grow up and be saved. Because you have already tasted the goodness of the Lord.”

Great article. We need to take into consideration the spiritual food more than the physical. The spiritual milk and meat is what believers should pray for and crave.
